I listened to the performance with great effort and tried to pick out detail. Due to my lack of knowledge before participating in this course, I was unable to precisely, dissect and have full understanding of all the musical detail displayed. I feel that this experience exposed and enhanced…
I loved the last piece in the third movement because it was played very well and it is an iconic piece. I had different emotions for the individual pieces were I felt at ease, delighted, and anxious with a dynamic feeling when the pieces go fast paced. This time I remembered the fast parts since I expected than the other first concert. The most memorable was Moonlight, presto movement. For the chamber groups they projected a playful vibe between each other enjoying when it alternates to one another.…
I do not think any words could have truly described how I nor the rest of the audience felt during that performance. The opinions and analogies of the pieces found in the program notes did slightly influence me. I agreed with and understood most opinions and comments of the performances. The listenings I did for my pre-concert assignment were not nearly the same thing as being in the auditorium. It was a completely different experience to see, hear and feel the performance in person as opposed to watching a video on a screen and trying to listen to the depth of the orchestra through…
There is a chamber choir of 25 singers and one piano accompaniment. In the concert they totally perform nineteen songs. The first song is called “Winter Wonderland”. The music is not relatively slow, when I listening to this song I felt like I am walking in the street very relaxing while it is snowing outside. And I really like the second song called “That’s Christmas to me”, this song sounds very beautiful.…
During the final week of classes at Truman, I had the pleasure of hearing the school’s jazz bands in concert. During the concert, the Jazz Lab band and the Jazz Ensemble, both directed by Tim AuBuchon, played several jazz standards and modern favorites. The Jazz Lab band started out the night with five big band pieces. The instrumentation of the Jazz Lab band was standard for a big band; it included about four of each horn (saxophone, trumpet, and trombone), an upright bass, a piano, and a drumset.…
When you are on stage singing and dancing, you feel like you own the world. With show choir, you it’s not the place you get, it is the experience, friends, and the new people you meet that counts. And last Saturday, the show must have gone on. That is when you see the true connection between show choirs because during our performance, the power went out! And that’s when we put on the edge of glory because we couldn’t see it at all.…
The singers performed (Shenandoah, When I Fall In Love, Geographic Fugue, “Make Our Garden Grow” from Candide, and Gospel Mass), and at the end of the concert the performers invited us to sing along with them in Christmas Carols. I really enjoyed the sing along at the end of the concert because…
The music of the concert was nice to me and the different movements sung and played by the chorus and orchestra made me feel various types of emotions. The concert was something different for me to go to because it was my first time ever being at a music concert so it was a step for me to come from…
Show Choir will be auditioning for next seasons line up in the choir room on May 8th. Sophomore Asia Brewer is one of the people that plan on auditioning for Show Choir next year. Brewer was in show choir last year. She really enjoyed it that is why she trying again this year. “The auditions are not hard because you are doing what you know,” said Brewer.…
I’m sitting alone in the front pew of the University of Virginia Chapel on a cold December night. In front of me there is a tall metal stand with a set of bongos perched precariously atop. Behind me sits the entire crowd of the sold out Virginia Women’s Chorus Candlelight Concert. When I arrived in Charlottesville months earlier, I could have never expected to be here. I have just finished performing a piece with the chorus minutes earlier, when a member of the chorus steps forward and addresses the audience to explain and introduce the next piece.…
It made you want to know want to know what was coming next. I also enjoyed the fact that so many ethnicities and ages that got to play. I really enjoyed the children in the beginning playing piano because it made me smile. I would definitely go to this concert and I will also watch it over again many times on…
Walking into the auditorium, I immediately noticed that the atmosphere of the concert was completely different from that of the classical concert I attended weeks earlier. To begin with, it seemed like there was much more of an audience. Everyone seemed excited for the concert to start. As for myself, I was also excited because, on the very front of the program, it said that there was a guest artist that was going to perform with the ensemble. The performers wore more of a business casual look, some were a little more dressed up than others, but overall they looked very well dressed.…
Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…
The audience is exciting about this evening, and it is foreseeing, program for today is big. It includes Strauss “Oboe Concerto” and Beethoven “Symphony No 6, Pastoral”. Approached the venue I noticed how the audience was fully prepared for the concert. Ladies and gentlemen, in a nice evening dresses and suits talking about the artist who is going to perform. I was listening to the…
I enjoyed hearing everyone that performed. I was very blown away with this performance. I am very glad that this campuses faculty is so joined together even if it is doing small concerts like this. I wish that I was able to hear the second act play but I guess I will have to go back and go to their last concert that they are performing this year.…
