A dark bottle, a large bed and questionable morals, like many alcohol commercials the Chivas Regal whiskey ad advertises the fun that men and women can have by drinking. Most of the ads today impact society in a huge way. When people see this ad and similar ads they start to believe that what they see is morally correct and that they should emulate what they see. This is mainly due to how most alcohol ads are presented to the public. The Chivas Regal ad is advertising a whiskey brand, but in actuality what is being sold to the public is the corruption of morals.

Advertisers can alter and manipulate their ads and commercials in order to gain the attention of certain age groups. The age group that this advertisement is focusing on is males that are in the age group of predominately people in their early twenties.

The Chivas Regal whiskey ad uses limited colors in their ad. At first glance the viewer sees mostly white, which means purity and honesty, over a bed which could represent the purity of marriage. Upon closer look there is black mixed into the white covering the bed. This is contradicting the white because black represents evil, violence and death. This could make the viewer believe that because of alcohol even the purity of marriage can be tainted. The next color in the ad is a dark orange with black mixed within surrounding a whiskey bottle that is equally as dark. The dark orange in the ad can give the reader a sense of excitement and joy, giving them the thought that if they drink this whiskey than they will have a very memorable and exciting night. There are also a few words written in white against the orange background which will pull the readers attention to it, it says, “When you know” which could give the reader the idea that once they decided they want to have an exciting and memorable night that they should buy this brand of
