From day one I have been an Ox described by the Chinese zodiac as a person who can make a clear distinction between right and wrong. Similar to the ox, I am cautious, industrious, patient and honest. Additionally, I would characterize myself as someone who has integrity, persistence, and diligence.
As a child who grew up in a small neighborhood to a middle class family, I always strived to help people just as my parents who served as my role models. My hard working parents were brought up in Bangladesh, a third world country in South Asia with devastating poverty. Moreover, my parents are very strict and disciplining individuals; they both loved to help others regardless of their physical endurance, mental health, or economic stability. They reared me in the belief that my goals in life should include lending a helping hand to others; hence, I plan to pursue a

In my years in HOSA, I have donated food and money to shelters and orphanages throughout my city. For example, every December we take gifts, food and Christmas cards to the local orphanage and spend the day with these children. The look on a child’s face when he or she unwraps a present is a unique feeling that never fails to put a smile on the child’s or my face. In like fashion, my experience with Keep Laredo Beautiful has taught me that the responsibility in taking care of our environment is very important. It also gives me a sense of peace, tranquility but more so accomplishment whenever I drive past a park I helped create, or a shopping complex I helped clean-up. As part of Keep Laredo Beautiful, I helped design trails, planted native vegetation, and scouted sites for further development with the lead architect and environmental experts.
