Nurse Smith thinks that Ben is an Orderly and as Ben corrects her saying he is a neurosurgeon resident, you can tell she is dazed as Ben proceeds to walk away to begin his task. How can he possibly be a resident at John Hopkins? Ben doesn 't let how she perceives him to affect his work flow, he wants to be great so he aims for friendship. Ben moves on to the patient and he realizes that Dr. Farmington makes a mistake on the patient that he is analyzing. Even though Ben corrects him, Dr.Farmington replies “Don 't thinks you 're special because there is no one here like you. I 'll get you fired faster than you can say YASSIR.”.” How beautiful it is to stay silent when someone expects for you to be enraged.” recited by Buddha. Ben understands that the only person who can be a better person is him so the next day he invested into flowers and places them in front of Nurse Smith. This kind gesture is confusing but changes the way Nurse Smith perceives him. Ben moves back to Detroit, Michigan and his mother believes he is around people that he can relate too. Starting off at Hunter high isn 't easy and on the first day he was called “New blood”. He continues to get bullied and that developed into anger. Ben comprehends that if he doesn 't stand up for himself this move will be for naught. He stood up to his bullies by using his head. “Your momma so old her birth certificate say expired on it” These words change the way the bullies perceive him and the bullies evolve into friends. Even after becoming friends with the bullies he still has to overcome lingering anger. He didn 't establish self-control. The inability to control his anger made him stab his friend but luckily the blade broke on his belt buckle. After that occurs he ran home and clutches his bible and proceeds to pray. He told God “take away my anger” and you uses that to embrace his faith. He also took part in many side activities such as listening to classical music and studying culture such as art. He visits art galleries which have such a tranquil environment to begin to understand the culture.
