Cubs organization have existed for a hundred and forty-six years. They reside on the north side of Chicago, in Wrigley Field ,their stadium. They compete in the MLB or Major League Baseball. They went through many transformations from the year they started. They went to many World Series, but didn’t win most of them. This essay is about the history of the Chicago Cubs. Early Cubs History- In 1870, the Chicago White Stockings were introduced into the baseball world. They joined the NL or National League in 1876. Their first NL game was against the Louisville Colonels. The Chicago White Stockings won 4-0. They then after 22 years, the White Stockings transformed into the Chicago Colts. They were managed by Cap Anson. Then after only six years, they began the season as the Chicago Orphans. They finished the 1898 season 85-65. Saying that, Ernie Banks was one of the best players to ever compete for the Chicago Cubs. He played from 1953 to 1971. He was a shortstop and first baseman.His statue is right outside the stadium. Ernie died on January 23, 2015. Another Hall of Famer is Ryne Sandberg. He played from 1982-1997. “Ryno” played second base for the Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies. One of the best pitchers to ever pitch for Chicago Cubs was Greg Maddux. He pitched for the Cubs from 1986-1992 then came back and pitched from 2004-2006. He pitched for the Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres. Cap Anson coached the Chicago Cubs from 1876-1897.
