The Chicago Cubs Essay

The year was 1906 and the Chicago White Sox were playing the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. The Chicago White Sox ended up winning the World Series that year, but the Cubs had shown they were a capable team and retaliated in 1907 by winning the World Series. They went on to win in 1908 as well, putting them ahead as a stand-out team in the MLB. However, despite these two early World Series wins, the Cubs have not managed to emerge victorious again. Even stacked in 1962 with a team consisting of four Hall of Famers – Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Lou Brock, and Ron Santo – the Cubs could not go the stretch and even had their worst season ever that year, ending with a record of 59-103. He clearly looked past the law here because he wanted to be rich but the reality of it is becoming rich quickly is near impossible. It was also clear that Daisy had moved on. She did love him at one point, but she was now married to Tom Buchanan and even had a kid with Tom, who Gatsby decided to not accept either. Daisy had moved on but Gatsby was still chasing after her. In conclusion, Gatsby led himself to his own downfall. He did this because he never got over Daisy. Instead he decided he needed to get rich for her, so he participated in an illegal job. Also, he was arrogant so as to let everyone know he was in the upper class. If he had only let go of Daisy upon being separated, the story of Jay Gatsby could be a lot

Gatsby started off the explanation of the affair by saying that Daisy never loved Tom, which he quickly negated. After asking Daisy to tell Tom herself, she responded, “Even alone I can’t say I never loved Tom… It wouldn’t be true.” Tom agreed with her, but then she retorted “as if it mattered to you,” (Fitzgerald 140). Daisy fell in love with Tom after Gatsby left for war and never returned, and for Daisy it would be difficult to refrain from loving a man who provides her every need and showers her with luxurious items.…

Even though I am not a Chicago Cubs fan, I still feel bad for all of those winless years during the timeframe of the Billy Goat Curse. This whole curse probably would have never of happened if the guy named William “Billy Goat” Sianis never said that the Chicago Cubs were never going to win another World Series. All in all, I liked learning about the Billy Goat Curse because this whole curse was the reason why the Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series in over a century and I am very happy about it because I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Sadly, I am pretty sure the Billy Goat Curse is broken because this was finally the year that the Chicago Cubs won a World Series and I also think that William “Billy Goat” Sianis is happy about the World Series victory as…

The key in doing so starts with changes in the front office and then the team manager. Those two positions need to be filled before you can even think about what players you need to work the system. One of the teams that are looking to develop a roster similar to the Cubs is the Atlanta Braves.
