Super Bowl advertisements are famous for their elaborate productions and are often are more talked about than the event itself. These commercials have become cultural touchstones, but the advertisements have one job and that is to convince a potential customer to buy or use a company’s product or service. The Weight Watchers advertisement is a perfect example of how effective advertisements can be in only a few short seconds. What this commercial is really selling underneath its veneer of supposed helpfulness is emotional manipulation as it preys on people’s insecurities regarding their weight and shame them for eating food that may not be considered healthy. The primary audience for this kind of ad are people who emotionally vulnerable and…

The product mix and variety that Chevy has over its various vehicles would be considered a plus for me for several reasons. Having a number of vehicles to choose from allows for the Chevy brand to compete with many other automotive carmakers on different levels. The branding of chevrolet has allowed the company to compete with many of the other vehicles out there on the road (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). The company has been able to surpass its competitor Ford in sales, and a major part of that was in the ways that Chevy could compete, with such an extensive product mix. With so many products to market Chevy can cater to a market that is very dynamic, allowing the company to target several different populations.…

Of all the 2016 Super Bowl commercials, the commercial I have concluded the most effective is the Hyundai commercial with Kevin Hart. However, effective is a subjective word in this case, but the criteria used in my perspective of it is that the commercial created a connection with the viewer, was able to be memorable, and set itself apart as more than “just a product”. Through a mix of storytelling, playfulness, and outrageous acts; Hyundai was able to achieve and surpass those criteria. The first thing that many people, from peers to big companies, pointed out about the Hyundai commercial was Kevin Hart. Hart is an extremely recognizable star for his hilarious comedy and his playful personality.…

100 Miles per Hour, Upside Down and Sideways Rick Bragg’s 100 Miles per Hour, Upside Down and Sideways was a true story about the author, who was a young boy at the time. It seemed at a young age Rick Bragg was a lover for fast muscle cars, he loved everything about the cars, the rumble of the engine, the speed and the burning of the rubber when he punched the gas. Using vivid imagery through-out his story to show his memory from that summer before his senior year for the reader to get a clear image of what he went through. Bragg also takes a familiar topic that a lot of people could relate to, to make his memory more meaningful to more people. The story 100 miles per hour, upside down and sideways is a great memory from Rick Braggs that can connect many people to one past memory.…

In the specific commercial, Maddie by 2014 Chevy the message can best be portrayed as, Chevy cars are going to last for the long run. This can be most easily understood by the last note left on the screen at the end of the commercial, “A best friend for life’s journey.” This helps watchers come to the conclusion that Chevy cars are meant to last much as the analogy that a pet will act as your best friend for life. That is the point of going through the emotions of the commercial because you will eventually make the connection that the point of the commercial is for the car to act as a “dog” in life. Another message that can be taken from this commercial is that Chevy is thinking about your life journey when the company is mass manufacturing their cars.…

The commercial I chose was the Mountain Dew ad with the ¨Puppy Monkey Baby¨. This commercial starts off with three men on a couch watching a football game with a coffee table. Then a weird creature called the ¨Puppy Monkey Baby¨ comes hopping through the wall with a rattle in its hand repeatedly saying, ¨Puppy Monkey Baby¨ throughout the entire commercial. Then it drops down a bucket with ice and Mountain Dew. Then it jumps up onto the coffee table still chanting, and now it starts to dance and shake its rattle and kicks a Mountain Dew at one of the men.…

But looking closely through the lens of Feminism I began to see how each concept of the Ad was Sexist, racist and ableist.
