The Chevrolet TrailBlazer is midsize, SUV produced from 2002 to 2009. This traditional body-on-frame SUV was available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations and provides room for five or seven.

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer was a one-generation model and successor to the Chevrolet Blazer. It was followed by a pair of SUVs: the Chevrolet Equinox and Traverse.

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer was underpinned by the same platform powering the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. Related models based on this SUV include the Buick Rainier, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender, Oldsmobile Bravada, and the Saab 9-7X.

Chevrolet also offered an extended wheelbase EXT edition, marked by a higher roof line unique rear doors. All TrailBlazer models feature stacked rear combination lights, reflectors and one or two exhaust tips. Rocker panel trim, roof racks, and other body embellishments are found, depending on the trim level selected.

Inside, the TrailBlazer offers room for five. Choose the TrailBlazer EXT and your SUV adds extra room between the wheels and a third-row seat, extending passenger capability to seven.

The standard wheelbase models offer bucket seats up front and a split-folding bench seat in the rear. Extended wheelbase models offer a two-place folding bench seat for the third row.

All models are equipped with power windows and power door locks, a tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, tachometer, clock, front door pockets, front and rear cup holders, an audio system, and a pair of 12-volt outlets. Cargo room measures 41 cubic feet in the standard wheelbase model and 22.3 cubic feet in the extended wheelbase version. Initially, Chevrolet offered one powertrain choice: a 4.2-liter, V-6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This engine makes 285 horsepower and 276 foot-pounds of torque and along with the transmission, remained the standard powertrain throughout the TrailBlazer’s 8-year model run.

In 2003, TrailBlazer EXT models were provided with an available 5.3-liter, V-8 engine. Making 290 horsepower and 325 foot-pounds of torque, this small-block engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The small V-8 was also an option on 2006 to 2008 standard wheelbase models.

Beginning in 2006 and lasting through 2009, a TrailBlazer SS model was offered. Powered by a 6.0-liter, V-8 engine making 390 horsepower and 400 foot-pounds of torque, the SS comes paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This model offers standard all-wheel drive.
