The Importance Of The Chernobyl Disaster In Ukraine

The Chernobyl disaster occurred on an early morning on April 26, 1986. The accident caused an entire Ukraine city to be evacuated and abandoned. Do to the explosion, radioactive substances reached an altitude of 1.5 kilometers into the atmosphere. Being a windy day, all of the radioactive substances which formed a cloud were drifted above Scandinavia. The cloud then came back above the Ukraine. Research today shows us that radioactive clouds from the accident have made their way across the entire world and there is not any place that we know of right now that did not see the presence of the clouds. The Ukraine city that was evacuated and abandoned was called Pripyat. The city lays only three kilometers away from the nuclear plant. With this being a radioactive disaster, the local residents should have been given an iodine pill as soon as possible. When they were informed of what had happened and that they had a limited time to evacuate, the 50,000 civilians living in Pripyat were told that they only needed to bring things with them that they considered necessary because they would be able to re enter the city three days after the evacuation. They were told this so that they could prevent people over packing and panic and chaos. After the city had been completely evacuated, authorities had to inform the 50,000 people that the city would have to be abandoned and left forever.The explosion occurred due to many reasons. One reason was because the operation done by the workers was done incorrectly. The workers had bad communication and coordination. They also did not follow safety precautions.
