Everyone knows a good boss can direct and guide their employees to do their job in a way that achieves the most organization for both the employees and the company. They’re supposed to guide and motivate their employees to do their jobs better and can achieve the greatest organization and efficiency for both the employees and their company. A boss 's role is to plan, direct, organize and staff quality employees for the most effectiveness. This means that the boss should be able to use his or her skills to be the best leader they can. However, the personal characteristics of each boss is what will ultimately determine if they are a good or a bad leader. Both types of bosses hold high positions within the company and receive higher wages, and they are deserving of an employee’s respect, but they can only earn that respect by how they treat their employees.
During their career, everyone will meet many bosses with different leadership styles and interpersonal skills. These differences mean employees can have a collaborative relationship with the boss, and will have long-lasting effects. Whether the boss is bad or good, some of these relationships will be more long term than others, but all will leave an impact on employees. Every boss will have their own unique personality, experiences and leadership styles, but at the end of the day, both good and bad bosses have common responsibilities for the job.
