ungrateful. When she finds out her husband is cheating she wants to run away, only to realize she has nowhere to run. This brief summary is the type of personal look you get into an immigrants life. You can empathize with the helplessness and begin to see the personal side of the main character. Even if at this point of the review you aren’t interested in immigration or your views on the matter. There are other reasons to put aside the time to read this short story collection, reasons that can only be to your benefit.

So you really have to ask yourself if you can get all that richness and life learning in the first eighteen and a half pages. Why wouldn’t you risk the few minutes to read the first story to see if it entices you with its descriptions and ability for personal growth.

You may totally disagree with the point of view the author portrays. That is good to especially since you took the time to read another side of your opinion. A sign of intelligence is being able to objectively look at what you believe in, and at least consider it could be wrong.
