Five Factor Model Of Personality Essay

Humans are complex beings created by an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God; therefore, defining personality, in itself, is challenging. As humans, we will never be able to fully understand God because of His infinite attributes. Similarly, we will never be able to truly identify ourselves on our own. Many personality theorists have formulated theories after theories to describe personality. Though many of these theories present sound conclusions about personality, none of them are proven to be absolutely correct. They are one method of measuring personality; it is impossible to create a holistic theory of personality. Going by the definition of personality, which is the individual’s unique characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, I believe that personality can be determined by a person’s enduring trait, external environment, and the interpretation of experiences. A high agreeableness includes the traits tolerance, patience, and open-mindedness whereas a low agreeableness would contain stubbornness, quarrelsome, ill-tempered, and narrow-mindedness. This factor determines the temperament of a person, the ability to work with others, and the ability to interact with others. The other factor that is closely related to agreeableness is emotionality. Emotionality, would be similar to the neuroticism of the Five-Factor model. It measures the level of emotional stability of a person. Low levels of emotionality would be described as being anxious, nervous, insecure, and oversensitive, and in contrast, high levels of emotionality are described as stable, self-assured, confident, and brave. This trait would enable others to gauge the stability of a person, and this allows others and the person to understand how what frustrates or causes stress to the
