Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is a phenomenal person who performs numerous acts and miracles through us, and assists us in every aspect of our lives if we allow him. The Holy Spirit can be characterized and described in numerous ways. The Holy Spirit is God or co-equal to God, and he is a person. The Holy Spirit can also be described as the Spirit of truth, promise, grace, holiness, glory, the eternal spirit, and a comforter. The Holy Spirit is God or coequal to God. He is part of the Trinity, of which all persons are equal and one. In Psalm 139:7-8, the psalmist asks “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” …show more content…
Many people in the world are confused in terms of what’s right from wrong, and are confused as to what truth is in general. In John 16:13, Jesus says “but when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.” The Holy Spirit is the agent of all truth. He leads and guides us into truth, in a world where truth is blurred. The Holy Spirit plays a significant role in the church. Without him, the church would not be as effective as it is today, and many things would go wrong within the church. One of the purposes of the Holy Spirit in the church is to maintain unity among believers. Ephesians 4:3 says “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” The Holy Spirit helps create unity in the church (Barrier, 2013). The Holy Spirit has led and used countless people throughout history. One individual who was led and used by the Holy Spirit in a significant way, and has impacted thousands of people as a result, is Dr. Myles Munroe. Dr. Myles Munroe was born in Nassau, Bahamas. He grew up with eleven siblings in a very poor family. Despite Dr. Munroe’s unfortunate beginnings, the Holy Spirit has empowered him and equipped him to rise above them, and has impacted the world as a result.
Dr. Munroe became a Christian as a teenager. Obeying the calling of the Holy Spirit, Munroe attended Oral Roberts University where he studied Theology, Fine Arts, and Education. Munroe also attended the University of Tulsa, where he studied administration. Shortly after his graduation, Dr. Munroe started the Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI), where, with the help of the Holy Spirit, he touched many lives.
