Social media has become so much more than just a way to communicate with your family and friends, it has reached new heights that has made it a broad topic. The first characteristic that comes to mind would be easy, the social media apps are accessible on every smartphone device or tablet and most times when people are using their phones they are accessing a social networking site. With sites like Facebook and Twitter allowing users to speak their minds freely, opinionated is probably the most seen characteristic when dealing with social media. No topic if off limits, no one is off limits and users will stand by their opinions even if they happen to be wrong. Facebook live is one of the latest and most effective ways for entertainers to promote their projects and interact with fans during a live video broadcast. This not only promotes the upcoming project, but it boosts the number of members on Facebook, because if they do not already have an account they will want to be a part of the network so they will not miss out on their favorite entertainers next live broadcast. Most recently Kevin Hart used every aspect of Facebook to promote his latest stand up movie What Now?, he did serval Facebook live posts, along with his costar Halle Berry, he even went a step further and gathered upcoming comedians who do skits via social media to make videos that promoted his project. Instagram is also another site that influences how consumers see products, it is important that a company’s Instagram page reflect everything the company has to offer. Information about the company should immediately follow, this includes background information, contact numbers and locations. This allows readers to know they are more than welcome to contact the business in question about any further questions or concerns. News releases use the inverted pyramid so that all the most important information is located within the first few sentences of the release, readers today have a short attention span and they like to receive their news quickly. Placing the most vital information first also eliminates the fear of getting the important aspects of your news release cut down a few paragraphs if the newspapers layout happens to change.
