After strange things started to happen during her shift the other nurses started to be suspicious. When all the suspicious activity started to happen she was given the name of “Angel of Death”, this is because so many people were dying under her care. During her shift there was always a high number of patients who were dying due to cardiac arrest, what the nurses admired about her is that during these situations Kristen was calm and would use all of her nursing skills to try and “save” the patients. Most of her patients died but after her rushing to her actions of a good nurse she saved the lives of some of her patients. Those nurses who did not trust what was happening started to monitor the drugs that caused cardiac arrest, one of the drugs was epinephrine. That is the drug that Kristen was using to kill her patients. There was always a shortage of epinephrine without an explanation to why, many of her patients who were sick were dying of cardiac arrest with them never having any heart problems. This is seen with Kristen because her motive behind her killings have to do with getting attention, she was happy that she was getting admiration from all the other nurses when she was keeping calm and helping the patients when they were dying. Many of the staff from the hospital where she worked at mentioned that her killings were because she wanted to demonstrate her nursing skills by creating emergency situations. This was the only time that Kristen actually showed how good her nursing skills were, she was trying everything to “save” her patients. Kristen Gilbert also showed signs of a psychopath, the book mentions 16 characteristics of a psychopath with Kristen showing three of the characteristics. They are being intelligent, calm and without shame or remorse, another sign of her being a psychopath is that the core of a psychopath is to have power and control over the victim through whatever needs necessary to improve his or her status. Which is the case with Kristen, she knew she had power and control over her victims because she was a nurse, her patients trusted her.
