Everyone’s background brings needed and added skills, learning, attributes, and characteristics to the table that is a very beneficial experience first hand. One important item I obtained from the Attend Unit 8 is that, In order to promote good learning organizations we have to tap into the knowledge of our veteran workers and retain that knowledge (Bethel University, n.d.). I would say this is very important to note because they in fact carry a lot of essential knowledge that continues to keep organizations afloat and running properly. By veteran workers performing the required job tasks for so long, they have a lot of required skills and knowledge that many newcomers do not attain and lack. So, if we can learn from our veteran workers it produces better outcomes and the legacy will continue and we can continue to foster learning and teaching among the employees to help the organization from becoming stagnant. As reported by Redding (1997, p. 61), “Advocates say learning organizations are more likely than other organizations to be adaptable and flexible, lack complacency, experiment with and create new knowledge, rethink means and ends, and tap people 's potential for learning as a strategic competitive advantage.” Personally in my organization, in order to prevent stagnancy, we cross-train and incorporated …show more content…

A learning organization is a company that encourages people to learn and grow. They not only are doing something that matters but are learning and expanding their knowledge. According to the field book “Learning in organizations means the continuous testing of experience and the transformation of that experience into knowledge – accessible to the whole organization and relevant to its purpose”. In a learning organization testing of experience and transformation of experience into knowledge, doing something that matters not only to them but to the larger world, everyone is stretching, growing and enhancing capacity to create and learn new things, people treat each other with mutual respect and trust in the way they talk to each other, people feel free to experiment, take risks and access results. In order to achieve all of these components of my vision people will have to be willing to learn and feel that what we are doing is important to a learning organization.…

I believe that both Alderfer’s ERG theory as well as effective feedback are what truly shape me as a leader. In Alderfer’s ERG theory, (Existence, Relatedness, and Growth) I am aware that I exist as a leader and can focus on helping my teammates find ways to best utilize their skills and acknowledge their areas of development for future growth. In regards to relatedness, I see myself as one of them, this means that I see and understand the needs they might face and offering solutions such as, assistance with assigned tasks, help time managing class/work schedules and offer tutor sessions. Because of all this I am able to put myself in their shoes and truly understand if they attend meetings late or simply have a hard time with a deliverable.
