I learned a lot during my clinical rotation with the school nurse at Lansdale Catholic High School. I can honestly say this experience really opened my eyes to how important school nurses really are. They play a huge part in the youth’s health. They truly are the eyes and ears of this population. I could see myself being a school nurse one day. This is a great job for someone who loves kids and a lot going on in their life. I think the school nurses job definitely has its perks and downfalls but I do believe that comes with any job. #1 Describe the characteristics of community health nursing.
There are many things that come to mind when describing the characteristics of community health nursing. It is a specialty field of nursing and it combines public health with nursing. It is population based. It stresses on wellness rather than the main focus being disease or Illness. Interdisciplinary collaboration is a huge part of community health nursing. Lastly, it increases client’s responsibility and self-care.

This learning outcome was met by working with the school nurse to encourage compliance with immunizations and preventing malnutrition and dehydration. This was also met by the SSN working with the school nurse to make sure all the student 's physicals were turned in and filed properly in the nursing office.
