The Character Of Elena In Thunderlight By Ms Woods

Decent Essays
I have mixed feeling about this book, what happened in this book really took me by surprise. At the same time I couldn't help but to hope what could it mean now, after the surprising new developments of the story plot.

I really like the magical world that Ms Woods created, it's colorful and I enjoy reading about the different breeds of dragons, history and variation of magics.

However, I dislike how Elena remain clueless most of the time in this book. For someone who is new to the supernatural world, she doesn't seem too eager to learn their history.

I’ve hope to see Elena grow some backbone, and embrace who she is. But in Thunderlight she kind of went backward instead of forward. She avoids conflict, she constantly self-doubt, and her “love” for Lucian turned her into a whiner. I really didn’t care much about the romance between Elena and Lucian (and it’s not because I am on team Blake). I feel Elena’s romance with Lucian seem so superficial, and juvenile. I feel the story didn't spend much of time on building their relationship. To me their relationship become too serious all of the sudden. Lucian is the prince and he was portrayed as someone who didn't seem to have any faults. Elena was such pushover in the relationship, she actually agreed to give up her dragon if it turn out to be a male dragon.

Very disappointed!

Overall I enjoyed reading Thunderlight, there were major developments in the story, and couple game-changers essentially change everything. I look forward to see what will happen in the next book of the

    * This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review I'm sad to say that this is my first 3 star rating for a CoHo book. After falling in love with It Ends With Us, and crying for days after it was over, I was excited and nervous to read yet another emotional Colleen Hoover book. Without Merit didn't have much of a description, so needless to say I was going into this book pretty blindly. Once I finished the 1st chapter, I was already hit with some crazy news, which ultimately led into a story that I was not expecting.…

Journal # 1 Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a book I read for my University English class. People always say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but I am that one guy that does. When I first looked at the book to be completely honest, I thought it had something to do with witches or something really unrealistic. I know I have a wild imagination. The first couple of pages of the book got me hooked instantly, I loved how the book just starts and how the narrator gets right into his adventure as a young man into the Congo River.…

Many of these characters have things that happen in their lives when they were children or adolescents that cause a change. The characters are shown in different parts in their life and shows how they came to be a certain way. One of the characters we see the most change in is Sasha Grady Blake.…

The book the places that scare you by Pema Chodron was very interesting. The title itself Caught my attention right away, but what really got me to read this book is that the author is a Buddhist nun, so she will not talk about religion or tell you what is right or what wrong. Before I read this book I thought the book was going to be about metal disorders only because of the title. This amazing novel was really unpredictable as everything happened like a rollercoaster ride. However, it did have some drops throughout the book that I did not find amusing. Although not all aspects in their society related to my own personal culture, it was interesting to perceive life differently than my own and I enjoyed that. I personally like chapter three in this review, because it exemplifies a way I can relate to the ceremony which was written about throughout the entire book. It differentiated in areas that the gender between The Mouse Ceremony and my example, but the overall idea remained equal. In contrast, I did not like the idea of “songs of men without spirits” that was mentioned in chapter five in this review. I like to think of myself as a religious lady, and the concept of associating with dark forces like witches and people without spirits is therefore unthinkable.…
