The Changing Face Of America Analysis

In the article The Changing Face of America by Haya El Nasser, the writer uses a character that falls asleep and wakes up twenty years later to see a drastically changed world. She talks about how if this character was to wake up again, “he would have missed a stunning American revolution – a demographic one” (117). “Change is happening fast” (119), she states in one of her paragraphs. I do agree with Nasser, we are facing change really fast. Many of the changes that we face today are minorities, marriage, and the working force. All of these are no longer the same as they were a couple years ago. But I think we all go through a time in our life where we face change. If it’s from being a kid to a teen and a teen to an adult, we change in many ways. And that’s how I see the United States changing. …show more content…
William Frey, demographer at the Brooking Institution states, “But Hispanics really are a very big part of America’s present and future.” (118) And it’s very true, many studies have found that Hispanic are taking over and are becoming a large community. Not only have we become a larger community in America as citizens, but we have seen many Hispanic politicians. For example, our old mayor in Los Angeles was of Hispanic heritage. Nasser brings up a good topic on how Obama won the 2012 election because of the minority votes. I believe that if someone wants to run for office they will now have to win the votes of the Hispanic community in order to win. Because of the votes of these groups not only are they picking what is good for the country but, it brings positive change as well. For example, President Obama is fully supportive of gay marriage, and this year we saw that change by our country finally giving same sex couples the opportunity to get married
