In order to transition from one realm to another, one must undergo what is considered “boundary work”. This can range from simply a change of clothing to psychological changes that a person undergoes in order to prepare oneself for the transition between roles. Personally, I was the type of kid who did not have to work very hard in high school, if at all, and I was still able to maintain good grades. I would consistently do homework the night before, or sometimes even the class period before, it was due. While I was aware coming in that I would have to change my habits in regards to that, it was still quite a drastic change for me. Not only were the assignments much more intense than they were in high school, but the strictness of the grading was even more intense. Assignments which I had expected to receive an A on, I had quickly found out, translates to usually a B if not a little lower. I have since adjusted to this drastic change by prioritizing my homework much higher than other activities and also by taking my homework, in terms of quality, much more seriously than I had done in the

When people think about grade inflation do they think about those classes, where thanks to a curve, they were able to go from a failing D to a passing C. Then there are others who think about their friend that never went to class, barely studied, and turned in assignments late who their grade got inflated to pass with a C thanks to a curve. It is a way of working that ensures children and young people who may need additional support have exactly the right professionals around them to help. Integrated working is where everyone supporting children and young people work together effectively to put the children and young people at the centre, meet their needs and improve their lives. By combining their professional expertise, knowledge and skills, and involving the children, young people and/or their family throughout, practitioners would then be able to identify needs earlier, deliver a co-ordinated…

Public schools in America have serious problems within the system. Problems that could be resolved. Public school systems could and should be better. The citizens, school board, parents, government, principal and even the students have to work together to make the school itself and the system better. The problems I have identified: standardized testing is stressful, schools do not have rigorous programs to prepare students for college, and the difficulty of students transitioning from high school to college are all major issues within the public education system.…

Personally, college is a different environment compared to what high school students are used to. College teaches students to be more independent relying on ourselves to take care of our studies and learning process. Take High School for example. High School teachers will constantly remind students of deadlines for assignments while professors could care less if students missed the deadline. Because college students are considered more “mature”, students are required to manage their own time checking due dates for each class themselves.…

Ethics In Transition In the poem “Still I Rise”, by Maya Angelou she often refers to people who put her down and ridiculed her, but she had the confidence and willpower to not let those people affect her dreams or personality in a negative way, instead she used her critics negatives comments as fuel inside of her to overcome many obstacles. The work given in high school can not be compared to the work we get in college. I feel like high school did not prepare me enough for college as far as the workload and standards go. High school lacked many things in preparing me for college, teachers were satisfied as long as you did the work.…

I would say that I learned the most about what it really means to have time management after this semester. Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student. The drive to wake up, attend class, finish homework, and accept the new responsibility that had been placed in my novice hands diminished greatly as the non-academic temptations became to creep in my head. I must be honest with you and let you know that I did cave and willingly participate in the sweet release of social experiences.…

My previous work experience has exposed me to a variety of team dynamics and I would describe my exposure as very positive. My love for connecting with people has been a major factor in my overall employment success, such as, two management roles before reaching my twenty’s and also a fulfilling career in the financial industry for nine years. Working in a customer service role for the last 14 years I have faced struggles with communication, as well as developed positive skills to work effectively with others. One of the most essential elements I have learned from working as a Financial Advisor is how to build trust with people. I firmly believe this is key to any successful relationship, rather an employment relationship or otherwise.…
