The change in water supply was not a decision made by the Flint people. Throughout America, we, as law-abiding citizens, allow decisions to be made for us every day. We supposedly under the 15th Amendment have the right to vote. The people of Flint had no say in the decision that no one knew would affect them for the rest of their lives. “The switch has been described as an effort to save money, but Flint’s water system hadn’t been a drain on the budget. In fact, the water paid for itself and then some, paying out about $1.5 million annually to the city’s general fund in the years leading up to the switch, according to Dayne Walling, who was mayor in 2009-15” (“What Went Wrong In Flint”).
