Clash And Ambition In Macbeth By William Shakespeare

Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a 1606 tragedy about the thane of Glamis called Macbeth and his collisions between his duties to the king and his ambitions to his heart. The three witches who meet Macbeth prophesied that he is to become the next King of Scotland, but to do that he has to kill King Duncan, so he assassinates the king and then takes the throne of Scotland for himself. Since he is not legitimate, he feels insecure about his power and reign so he tries to annihilate those who he thinks are a threat to his power in Scotland. Although Macbeth gains the title he has desired, he takes it from somebody else wrongly so he ends up paying the price for it through many terrible tragedies occurring to him throughout the play. In the play Macbeth, Macbeth shows us how when ambitions get in between your loyalty to others, it 's always a conflicted path between those two and it almost never ends well. Although Macbeth gained the throne position he was yearning for, it came with a price and he paid it throughout the play through many tragic events happening while he was in throne. He was full of guilt and paranoia after the murder of King Duncan that he let it get the best of him until he let it succumb him. The play also uses multiple symbols, allusions, and literary elements to get the moral of the story through. All in all, the play reitterates a current theme in literature between the classic war between a passion and a responsibility, in this case between Macbeth desire to gain power and his duties to the king.
