My Decision To Go Back To School Essay

One of the challenges I faced in my life time was making the decision to go back to school. This was something I struggled with for years because, I often thought I wouldn’t be able excel and the course work would be a bit challenging. I have to admit during my high school years I played around a bit and never thought about going to college. Once, I landed a secure, good paying job; all ideas of college went out the window. In this assignment, we will look at the stages of change, in my life; in reference to going to school. Pre-contemplation – resistant to going to school and what they wanted me to major in. Before, I decided to go to school. I constantly would have several people insisting that I returned to school. These suggestions were coming from family members and co-workers. At the time, I felt that I was in a good position at work, making good money, and there was no need to further my education. Also, the field of study that they were suggesting was not enticing to me. For years I have been told to go into the travel industry. For some reason I had a knack organizing parties/events and putting together vacations for family and friends. So of course, their suggestions went on death’s ear because, I wasn’t putting any added pressure on myself to go to school and earn a degree in a field that I wouldn’t work in or be happy in. …show more content…
