Distributive Justice In The Workplace

Productivity in any working position one is assigned is critical to the end product of organization’s success. Motivation plays important role in productivity. However, challenges arises in some situations in which the managers and employees do not embrace the right motivation to make the organization move forward. Immediately after college, I got a job as a supervisor in a medium sized organization where I was supposed to manage a team of ten members. The situation of dealing with the team members was hectic with some members not showing any intents of improving or performing as expected in the organization.
The major issue that surrounded the situation is perceived inequity among the team members from the supervisor I took the position from. Rewarding the works was not down to the efforts they were putting in the work place but was more on the relationship with the supervisor yielding to commutative justice which greatly influenced principles of distributive justice that employers should offer to their employees. The first is the physiological needs which represents the basic needs that every individual requires. People need to have food, clothing and even shelter to be able to perform well in the workplace. The second aspect that definitely affects the performance is safety. Employees should feel safe in their work place without uncertainty. People of different genders should also be comfortable in the workplace since their security is guaranteed if they are expected to deliver to the maximum productivity of the organization. Third, the aspect of sense of belonging. In a workplace, for any team to perform to their best, they should have the sense to belong to the team and organization.
