For example, when Santiago went on his long journey of meeting many different people and meeting many different obstacles to find his treasure in Egypt, he didn’t look in the right place for his treasure. “The boy stood up shakily, and looked once more at the Pyramids. They seemed to laugh at him, and he laughed back, his heart bursting with joy. Because now he knew where his treasure was,” (168). Santiago traveled so far and so long, lost so much but gained so much in return, just to travel to Egypt and to find his treasure. When he finally arrives at the Pyramids, he is beaten by refugees and laughed at for digging for gold, and they leave him saying only silly fools follow silly dreams. Santiago then realizes where his treasure is actually and returns home to the church where he first had his recurring dream and he found his treasure at last. To conclude, Santiago traveled long and hard to find his treasure, and although he had many obstacles in the way, he found his treasure and never gave
