Regret is the feeling of stepping into a seemingly calm ocean's water- only to be dragged underneath the surface by the under current. It was also, Jace resolved, the feeling of a corset tightening around a not-so-thin body.

She took another deep breath as the cursed item of clothing pulled her insides further inside; if that was even possible at this point. The process felt much like a boa constricting its prey. Though, a boa would have gotten the job done faster; she sighed irritated shifting to her other foot, having been in the same position for fifteen minutes now, her back had begun to ache. Not that that was the worst problem she had. Why anyone would be willing to put on such a horrid article of clothing was beyond her. Corsets were probably the worst trend in human history- and yet they somehow spread through the bipedal high society of West Hisloa, and as they were expected in high society she would have to endure it for this one night. She was the ambassador of the Cervus Folk, after all.

Though, unlike the centaurs, the Cervus Folk tended to be peaceful and nomadic. Not having set territories other than the Cervus Royal Court, which only served to be a link to those of the other realms, to theirs. It was not by any means to punish or keep their people in line, but they did keep record of the nomadic clans and keep communication between them stable. During the time that the lai was written, there was a drastic change in courtly women’s attire, as tighter more revealing clothing became in favor over more modest clothing. This is documented in the article “Estreitement Bende: Marie de France’s Guigemar and the Erotics of Tight Dress,” by Nicole Smith, where she explores how Marie uses dress to enforce controlled sexuality. In the article Smith explains that “garments that were once expansive and flowing came to be tightly fitted across the body with belts, knots, and laces” (96). This dress style “became the emblematic of a fashion-savvy noblewoman in the art and literature of the high Middle Ages” (Smith 96). This came into…

When Mrs. Sommers makes way to the dressing room and puts them on she is not thinking about her responsibilities, she is acting on her own personal desires. Chopin writing demonstrates this, “She was not going through any acute mental process or reasoning with herself, nor was she striving to explain to her satisfaction the motive of her action. She was not thinking at all. She seemed for the time to be taking a rest from that laborious and fatiguing function and to have abandoned herself to some mechanical impulse that directed her actions and freed her of responsibility.” She continues on to purchase a pair of boots that she desires and she does not care if they cost her a little more than expected.…

Knowing that something special was going to happen that day, because she could feel it deep inside her soul, Charity sprung out of bed. Her grandpa had always said that she had the “gift of knowing,” the same as her grandmother, Mi 'thebe, had. Mi’ thebe was a Cherokee name that in English meant Shadowy Moon. As she stepped outside the old, log cabin she took a deep breath of the cool, fresh mountain air and then stretched her back, leaning from side to side to remove the stiffness she felt from sleeping in her not so comfortable bed, which consisted of a straw-ticked mattress atop a wooden bunk that seemed to became flatter each year as she grew older. Her grandfather had built the cabin some fifty-odd years earlier as a wedding gift for…

Most of Delilah's presumptions with regards to Noel were duly disproved once she crossed the threshold to his quarters. Had he portrayed antagonism, he would be met with indifference; tartness with civility; detachment with sympathy. Yet, with a conjunction of diffidence, self-deprecation and courteousness, a catch-22 met her at the helm. For someone who was all but reclusive whenever their session with Dr. Walt commenced, this somewhat accommodating acceptance was a pleasant turn of events. It scarcely evicted her mind from the gutter however, for it seemed like they favored the real estate there and would hardly budge for anything else when there was half-clothed man in her presence.…

" Losing her queenly aura and lashing out with slurs of crude invective, Celes snapped her eyes to where she thought the bear was (the darkness concealing his small form) shouting with now bloodshot eyes, some of that redness from some restrained tears, but the Queen of Liars would never admit something like that. T "Now, now; if you're going to act like that, perhaps I should call you Yashuhiro." Celes froze up upon hearing her real name being called out to her by Monokuma, herself considering the best course of action after losing her temper in such a way. Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes for a moment, she attempted to return the royal air to herself, removing any chance the bear had to taunt her wit that boring name.…
