It seemed a better academic environment for him than Eton , due to the lack of bullying. Yet, Shelley did something that he should've kept to himself. Shelley and a co-author, Thomas Jefferson Hogg, had co-authored a pamphlet titled The Necessity of Atheism. Since Shelley did not want to own up to him being one of the authors to the pamphlet, he was expelled from the University College, Oxford. Count Cenci is a demonic soul that is so far gone that no one can save him. He finds pleasure in making people want to die and also make them want to kill themselves before he does. Cenci made sure that he placed fear in the hearts of those around him. Cenci is almost like the devil, placing curses on those he should be cherishing. Just like Shelley he felt as though he could do whatever he wanted without dealing with any consequences. The family of Count Cenci honestly didn’t want anything to do with him, which makes me think that Shelley took that as how his family perceived him.
Shelley wrote "The Cenci" to show the outside world that this is how he would get his revenge if he could. He would torture his family in order to get them to follow his rules and how he wanted to live his life. What Shelley forgot to mention in particular who and why would these people want to stop him. In the tragedy Cenci had announced the reason for a celebration he was hosting, was because he two sons and been killed. In my opinion Shelley possibly made this connection due to his first wife Harriet committing
