There could have been many causes to the start of the civil war in 1861. However, the main focus and cause of this war, is due to the relationships of the Northern states and the Southern states of what is known today as America. The North had a different mindset towards the future of america than the South had in mind. The Northern states wanted to start moving forward into the future, developing railroads and industrialising the North. The South however had a different idea when it came to the future of the country. They didn't necessarily find the need to expand and move forward with new ideas and revolutionising ideas.
