There is a lot of Stress in the police force, from the long work hours and being tired all the time as well as not getting to spend a lot of time with your family. Not only are the work hours stressful but having to have your guard up 24/7 at the work place because Officers are never sure what they are going to be walking into when they step out of there house and into their patrol cars,

Police officers don’t have it easy, they never really know what they are going to be dealing with when they clock in for work, not only is it dangerous but they have to stay on their toes as at all times because the situations they put themselves in are dangerous. Officers have to stay aware of every move made, as well as having to watch everyone around them and watch how they're moving at all times because they never know who is trying to pull a fast one, or who is going to try and hurt them. A lot of people assume that being a cop is more of a hands on job but its not, they have to be mentally strong and mentally prepared because although police have signed up to protect others the things they do to protect people can also take a toll on them mentally. Police sometimes have to take drastic measures such as excessive force on criminals who are refusing to follow the laws or have committed a crime and sometimes the actions police have to make can be lethal and can take a toll on the officer, having to know they took a life or hurt the criminal in some way, although they were breaking the law or hurt someone the officer still had to do more than they were used to and the visual of what they did to take down that criminal will always be with them. When an officer has to put someone down or use excessive force on a criminal sometimes they aren't always comfortable with the decisions they have to make, it can sometimes cause them to have PTSD or to even have recurring flash blacks. When police Officers go through situations like this their police force usually has counselors at hand that they can talk to and consult with about the situations that occurred in order for the officers to get better.
