Abortion is the act of terminating a pregnancy by killing the embryo or fetus. An advocate for the legal option of killing an unborn child are those who are pro-choice. A person who is pro-choice believes that it is a woman’s right to decide, if she no longer wishes to carry her child, to abort the unborn child. They usually believe that human life does not begin until a certain stage in the pregnancy and that until then, the unborn child is just a clump of cells and it is not morally wrong to dispose of it. There are many reasons a person may give to get an abortion and the reasons are usually centered around egoism. Someone with a biblical worldview believes that all life is sacred. They believe that innocent life is to be protected. One of the ten commandments is, “Thou shalt not murder.” A biblical theist would not support abortion. The Bible does not directly address abortion but, there are several verses in the Bible about the value of human life, that suggest abortion is wrong. Jeremiah 1:5 talks about how God knows people before he forms them in their mother’s womb. This verse shows that God values life in the womb at any stage. Exodus 21:22-23 shows that an unborn life is as valuable as an adult human life because it is protected by the same punishments for injury or death as an adult. Luke 1:41-44 talks about how when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting that the baby in womb leaped and that she was filled with the holy spirit. The Greek word for baby in this verse is the same used for a baby outside the womb. Genesis 1:27 explains that God created humans in his image. The bible talks about how all human life is valuable because humans are created in the image of God. If God says that he formed people in their mother’s womb and that He created humans in the image of God, then it stands to reason that as soon as that creation process starts, the presence of the image of God is already there. This leads to the conclusion that unborn life after conception does indeed posses the image of God and thus has intrinsic value. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 talks about how we are purchased by God for a price and that we are to honor God with our bodies. As a Christian, the idea that a woman has a right to her own body and thus should be allowed to have an abortion is wrong. Because Christians are bought with a price and must honor God with their bodies. Having an abortion is not honoring God with our

In the article titled Abortion: A Pro-Choice Perspective, Robert Blake argues that, “We see the fetus as a potential life to continued development is subordinate to the mother’s right to privacy, which includes the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.” (Blake, pg. 5). People who are pro-life believe that if we legalize abortions, than women will get them anytime and anywhere. When the baby is first conceived, there is evidence that it truly is just a clump of cells and hasn’t formed into anything. Perhaps, we will use the example from the reading titled A Defense of Abortion by Judith Thomson.…

This is because of the strong pillars of faith Roman Catholics have founded upon the authority of church tradition. Notable Church figures from the earliest times within Church history have purported that interrupting the natural end of procreation from sex is a morally corrupt action. Clement of Alexandria wrote in 195 AD that because man’s seed was ordained by God to be the means by which man procreates, the seed should not be “vainly ejaculated”, “damaged”, or “wasted” (The Instructor of Children 2:10:91:2). The seed of man and the womb of a woman are sacred and should not be taken desecrated. Scripturally, the Roman Catholic Church points to Genesis 38:8-10, a passage that directly involves the act of withdrawing before ejaculation.…

Mary warren argues in her article "On the moral and legal status of abortion. ", that abortion is admissible under certain circumstances. She claims that even if the fetus is a human being and has a right to life, that right to life is overruled by a woman’s right to control what happens to her own body. Taking away that right is a violation to ones civil rights. If the government were to take away women’s right regarding reproductive choices, by forcing a woman to continue an unwanted pregnancy.…

The mother choses to either live and let her baby die or die and let her baby live. A decision where she takes into consideration the life of the baby after her passing or her life after the passing of the baby. I believe that abortions are acceptable if the baby will live a diminished quality of life. If the baby is going to be born with serious physical handicaps, genetic problems, or mental defects the parents should have the option of abortion. I believe that if the woman was raped, she should have the option to undergo an abortion, because she did not consent to sex, it was forced upon her.…

The key dispute of “pro-choice advocates,” is that women ought to have the right to choose what happens to their own bodies. The pro-choice view is that abortion is a way of ending an unwanted pregnancy if the mother so chooses. Conversely, apart from the clear question of whether it is a woman’s right to choose, pro-choice backers also like to mention the idea of a dangerous birth. Suggesting that there are cases where giving birth could injure or even kill the mother, some be compelled to suggest an abortion. In such cases pro-choice supporters may feel that abortion is the answer.…

Probably one of the most controversial topics since the earliest of times is abortion. Not only do people bring religion but also science. Many people feel like abortion should be illegal, but personally I strongly disagree. To tell one what they can and can't do by taking the option of abortion yet promote that we are in the "Land of the Free" is nothing but hypocrisy and ignorance at its most absolute form. Ultimately, the choice should and always be of turn woman, for she is the one carrying the fetus inside her.…
