Burnout can have devastating side effects from stress but what causes burnout? To understand burnout, how work environment plays a role is important to examine. This paper will continue to examine work from Killian, C.S. Warren et al, and EastWood and Eckland to examine different stressors at work that may influence the likelihood of burnout. The interviews were constructed with open-ended questions about how each professional felt their life was affected by job-related stress, and what the coping skills were that each individual used. Interviews were audiotaped in 1 hour duration. The interviews were categorized and the information was then sorted into data categories through Hyper RESEARCH. Afterword, a Quantitative study was completed from the codes of the previous study with 104 therapists (21 male 83 female). A questionnaire was given from different codes such as social support, personal trauma history, affective coping style, self-care strategies, burnout, emotional self-awareness, work environment stressors, resources, and work drain. Social support was measured through a 17-item Social Support Index by McCubbin, Patterson & Glynn (1982) Affective Coping through a 28 item Brief Cope by Carver (1997). Compassion Satisfaction and Compassion fatigue measured by Professional Quality of Life III: Compassion Fatigue and Satisfaction Subscales, RIII by Stamm (2003). Burnout was measured by The Maslach Burnout Inventory by Maslach & Jackson (1981), and the ability to identify one’s own emotional state was measured by a 14-item Emotional Self Awareness Questionnaire by Killian (2007). All therapists (100%) were able to participate due to the questionnaires being completed at work on company time. Alpha’s reliabilities for the different measures ranged from .80 to
