There are approximately 27 million shoplifters (or 1 in 11 people) in our nation today. More than 10 million people have been caught shoplifting in the last five years. This already shows you there are many people in the community shoplifting from various stores every day. Many of these shoplifters actually end up being adult surprisingly more than teens. Although shoplifting does still occur majorly in teenagers and many teenagers that haven’t shoplifted know of other teenagers that have. Even though many stores make their security even higher out of forty nine time someone may shoplift they will only get caught once. When you’re a teenagers it is the time children start rebelling against their parent in various ways is shoplifting seem to be a big one. Teens just don’t understand yet that when they shoplift it doesn’t just concern them but it also concerns there parent, the community, and the store. About 13 billion dollars in the United States has been stolen for shoplifters every day. This means stores must have to higher there price to cover the amount of money that has been stolen which means more money out your parent pocket. Not only has that but they must also higher taxes so once the shoplifter has to pay taxed there higher just because they have been stealing. Even when they end up being caught they still go do again because you can do four and be only get caught once out of those four times. Many teenagers at their school now a days may not be stealing but they know of other teenagers that are and have yet to be caught. Then they start to think it easy and they won’t get caught so they end up going and shoplifting because they tell them they probably will not get caught because they have not. Habitual shoplifters steal an average of 1.6 times per week which is just hurting our world more and more each week. Every time a person is caught shoplifting they should have to go through a class not just there first time but every time to put it into their brain. This is hurting people that don’t even think about shoplifting people have to pay more on everything just because someone got it for free which is not fair to this society.
