Global Warming: The Last Ice Age

Improved Essays
It is said that the last Ice Age that occurred happened about 1.8 million years ago and it last for roughly 11,700 years; since then our planet has seen a drastic change in the glaciers that once covered huge parts of the land. Global warming should no longer be a debatable topic, about whether it is really happening, or if humans are the reason as to why, but instead we need to discuss the scientific evidences that have shown the effects Global Warming has caused. The Earth naturally keeps its temperature within a suitable range for all living species, so they are able to adapt and survive. This happens by the Earth trapping some infrared waves in its atmosphere. This is needed in order for the Earth to be able to keep the temperature at its …show more content…
The machines that were used, ran off of fossil fuel for the main source of energy. The burning of fossil fuel caused for the release of CO₂ to be present in the atmosphere. This is a cause for Global warming indirectly; it subconsciously effects our glaciers around the world. Due to the increase temperature of the Earth, it causes the Glaciers to melt more rapidly than earlier years has shown us. Many scientist have taken pictures to compare years, and have gone out to study the effects of Global warming that has on the Glaciers. Many Glaciers are not only melting faster, but they are also losing their mass as well. In many places like India, during their dry season the melting of Glaciers is needed in order for them to be able to harvest food, not only for their needs, but the United States; imports some of their crops as well. If Global warming keeps happening at the rate in which it is going, in a few years, all the glaciers are no longer going to be present and it will ruin India’s rice, wheat and soy crops. The domino effect of this will cause food prices to go up, and hurt the …show more content…
If the Glaciers continuously melt at their current rate; while water might be in supply now, the damages it will cause later will have a greater impact. Over population, as well is a more that is a factor of Global warming, because over populated cities do not contain the cleanest air, and typically have a thin layer of pollution in the sky. The gases that are trapped in these cities causes for more greenhouse gases to remain in the atmosphere, instead of escaping. Alter methods of energy are needed if we want to see a climate change. We need to make a switch to more clean energy solutions, for example the amount of CO₂ gases that are released into the air from Coal Fire Plants is equal to the amount of half a million cars, trucks, and Semi trucks. If we made the change to having cleaner air, by making the costly switch now to Hybrid energy cars, Wind energy, Solar energy, and something as simple as changing your lightbulbs to a more energy efficient blub. We can save us from the damaging future of water shortages, hotter temperatures, higher food prices, and animal

Global warming, lest talk about that. It is a boost in the temperature of the earth and the globe, which is affecting the poles. Global warming is something we should consider when using fossil fuels. People think global warming is a joke, but is hurting other places in the globe. One main example of a global warming is that the north and South Poles are melting, thus killing some of the animals there.…

The environment throughout the planet has been changing drastically. In his book An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore wrote that Antarctica and The Arctic are affected the most because they are on the top and the bottom of the Earth. The Arctic ice cap keeps the earth cool. The planet is at an increased temperature which has caused the ice cap to thin and melt at a rapid rate. As Al Gore later states, when sun hits the ice it usually reflects it like a giant mirror but with global warming the sun shines on open water causing the ice cap to melt.…

A US top secret project, Project Iceworm will be reveal within the next decade. The article, Greenland’s receding icecap to expose top secret US nuclear project,” by Jon Henley states that the US military project, Project Iceworm of 1959 will be uncovered within the next decade due to global warming. Global warming is when earth’s temperature increases gradually over time. When the temperature rises it causes ice glaciers such as in Greenland to melt over a period of time. The ice melting in Greenland is not the only problem.…

The role of greenhouse gasses is to keep the earth from becoming too cold for life. Greenhouse gases, which keep the earth from being inhabitable, have dangerously increased due to humans causing a global climate change. First of all, for anyone that does not know what climate change is, it is a change in the world’s climate. A lot of people think weather and climate…

According to scientists, the rise of sea levels is as a result of the melting of ice sheets due to global warming. This therefore means people near water bodies will be displaced to escape death. More storms are also experienced as a result of global warming. These storms are of great intensity and therefore become a big threat to people as they can result to deaths. The rise of temperature could also lead to extermination of many species and since most of these species of importance to human beings, it therefore results that they too are in great danger.…

The Horrible effects of Global Warming There is a reason that the polar ice caps are melting and what hurricanes are worse than they were about 20 years ago. Global warming was once thought to be a myth, but after of scientific evidence it has been proven that is real. Now the main point is to prove what global warming does not what it is. A dramatic rise in the earth’s atmospheric temperature linked to green house gasses and other related phenomena are responsible for the extinction of many species of flora fauna, an unprecedented decline in human and animal food sources and increase in devastation by natural disasters. Knowing exactly what global warming is helps understanding how it is able to cause extinction of flora, decline in food sources, and increase in devastation by natural disasters.…

How much more evidence do skeptical people need, to believe that global warming is a real problem and needs to be solved immediately? Global warming is one the serious issues confronting humans right now. Global warming has occurred due to carbon dioxide and other gases getting stuck near the earth’s atmosphere, creating a thick blanket trapping greenhouse gases and the sun’s heat, thus making the planet warmer. It is changing our economy, health and the way we live in different ways. Many scientists are predicting that if we do not find a solution immediately to solve global warming, the future of the earth’s climate will be devastating.…

Climate Change is Real Half a century from now the planet will not be the same as it is today. With the effects of climate change increasing it is destined to negatively affect the world as we know it. Many factors from humans contribute to this global climate change. Starting with the burning of fossil fuels for energy, deforestation, and greenhouse gases increasing the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These events are some of the main reasons for our current global climate change problems; to include sea levels rising, global temperatures rising, shrinking ice sheets, ocean acidification and extreme weather events.…

With more and more people in the U.S we are all contributing to emitting pollution. As people maintain emitting pollution this will increase global warming, then the earth over time will increase in temperature endangering places where it cannot be that warm. With global warming it causes a huge challenge for animal life and plant life to be able to sustain different weather patterns. Some acts have been in place since the early 1980’s but it has not been enough to stop or slow down the process of global warming. There are many factors involving global warming in regards to scientific issues, economically, and politically.…

The combustion of fossil fuels is the main contributor to it, alone with deforestation, and modern agriculture. Glacier melt is a outcome of global warming that has lots of consequences, such as the release of ancient toxin stored in ice shield, earthquakes, and decrease in water quality. The consequences are all results of past or present hazardous human-activities, and therefore human will have the responsibilities to attempt to change, minimize, or reverse the negative impact of global warming on both human and the…
