We do not feel remorse because we don’t understand the effect it has on the environment we are slowly demolishing. Harvesting the body of the Earth inside and out to accumulate resources for our ever-growing population and prosperous lifestyles, and we don’t feel the slightest guilt. As we venture our way across the surface of the earth, cutting down forests and destroying environments, natural habitats are abolished in return. In the past 500 years, approximately 322 animals have become extinct because of our species (Viegas). Of course, we should be worried about the extinction of these animals and environments around us, but these are just warnings of what may happen to our own species one day. American’s continue to grow and expansion of cities begins to double. What happens when we pave over all of our farmland? Have we come to the realization that we may be our own worse enemies, destroying ourselves before anything else has the chance? Without farmland, we will begin to starve, but some don’t comprehend that scenario. We live in a culture that revolves around immense logos, and imported foods; forgetting to look at the larger picture and ask ourselves, “Where does it all come from?” As we come to the realization that our world is not a sphere of unlimited resources but instead our soul environment we continue to strip down day after day. In order to stay in balance with the earth’s resources and our need for them, we need to help the earth out. Beginning with a family owned garden in each backyard, giving families the ability to feed those around them with fruits and vegetables from their own
