Juliet Caused Her Own Death
Could love be so strong that it leads to death? Would anyone kill themselves for their love? In the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two lovers would rather die than live without each other. They would spend eternity with each other rather than marry someone else. Romeo killed himself thinking Juliet was dead, so he decided that he would spend forever with his wife. But what caused Juliet’s death? Juliet is the cause of her own death. She had many other options rather than to kill herself. Juliet did not have to kill herself. She could have lived a full life to keep Romeo’s memory alive, she could have tried to move on. Friar Laurence had told her, “Come, I’ll place you among the sisterhood

She could have told stories about a great young man. She could have lived on, had kids, and even tell her children stories. After Juliet woke up, Friar Laurence said to come with him (Shakespeare, 273) and he would get her out of the Capulet family tomb before anyone came. She could have lived a full life, but decided she would spend eternity with Romeo.
Out of fear and love, Juliet killed herself. She asked Friar Laurence to leave her, and she kissed Romeo to see if there was any poison left on his lips (Shakespeare, 275). She then heard the watchmen and Count Paris’s Page enter. She then acted out of fear, grabbed Romeo’s dagger, and stabbed herself. A counterargument is that Friar Laurence is the cause of Juliet’s death. The Friar is the one who gave Juliet the sleeping potion, and planned their getaway. He also married Romeo and Juliet. It could also be Friar John’s fault because he couldn’t give Romeo Friar Laurence’s letter. If Romeo would have got his letter, he wouldn’t have killed himself and Juliet would still be alive.
In conclusion, Juliet is the cause of her own death because she had many other choices than to kill herself. But, she had acted out of fear and stabbed herself. Even though she had many other options, she decided she did not want to live on without Romeo. Would anyone else do what Juliet did if they were put in the same

The evidence shows us that it was Romeo’s own decision to take poison and kill himself. Their own decisions are to blame for their deaths, and not the guidance of Friar Lawrence. On the other hand, this argument is not valid because all of Romeo and Juliet’s choices were caused by the reckless plans created by Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence got them married without their parents permissions, he gave Juliet the plan to fake her own death, he didn’t tell Romeo about the plan beforehand, thus causing Romeo to die. Romeo and Juliet’s decisions have no effect on their…

Romeo and Juliet is a powerful example that those who act in haste make decisions which lead to the downfall of others, as well as themselves. At some point or another, nearly every character in the play has displayed this theme. The characters that have expressed this attribute most effectively are likely Tybalt, Romeo, and Juliet. Tybalt was one of the first to make the mistake of not thinking of the consequences of his actions, and the others followed his lead. Tybalt is both a victim and a culprit of the characters of Romeo and Juliet acting in haste.…
