In everyday society and infrastructure, cars and other motor vehicles have a fundamental role in transport. However, being motorised vehicles, crashes can be very severe and can lead to injury and in some cases death when involved in several types of accidents accidents, most notably collisions with other cars or stationary objects. The cause of death can vary, from forces within the car causing damage to internal organs, parts of the body being damaged by colliding with parts of the car, crushing from displacement in the car’s surface, and countless others. By the end of 2015, 1,209 deaths in Australia were the result of road accidents and these accidents cost the government $27 billion per annum. Despite still being a relatively large cause of death, this amount is an approximately 31.8% decrease compared to 1970, where 3,789 people died as a result of a road accident.
