Depression is a debilitating disease that can cause irreversible problems. Depression is a disease that is more than just mental, it is caused and affects a person as a whole, not one part. Depression is often overlooked but it can and more often than not causes problems for more than just the depressed person. Depression is something that will make it harder to live. It has many problems caused by it, it has different ways to live and treat it, as well as it having different society problems associated with it.

Life will always have times when you are sad or down but depression is much more than sadness however, when you always have a sense of nothingness or dread than it could be depression (depression symptoms/warning signs). depression

Children who have depression will sometimes fake being sick, doing everything in their power to not go to school, be extremely close to their parent and never wanting to leave them, or always feeling like their parent might pass away (Nimh). Irritability is the most common sign of depression of teens and children (Smith et al). Being around a person with depression can be hard on everyone they are with or around such as family or friends (“Understanding Depression). “Some people describe depression as “living in a black hole” or having a feeling of impending doom. However, some depressed people don 't feel sad at all- they may feel lifeless, empty, and apathetic, or men in particular may even feel angry, aggressive, and restless” (Smith et al). Suicide is something that may seem like the best or even the only route that one can take to escape the feelings of despair and feeling hopeless that never end (Smith et al). Major depression usually goes on for between 5-7 months if it is not treated (Smith et al). Teenage depression in particular, if it is not treated, can lead to issues in their home, their schools, using and abusing drugs, hating themselves, even things that can …show more content…
However, there is hope as depression in teens is easily treated (Smith et al). While some will only experience one episode of depression in life but depression is generally a thing that will happen over and over (Smith et al). There is a difference in the way depression appears between men women, teens, and kids. The way depression appears in women, are excessive guilt, sleeping more than they should, eating more than usual and gaining weight (Smith et al). IN men, depression are not as likely as women are to admit to hating themselves and feeling hopeless (Smith et al). Men are also far likelier to always be tired, have a short temper, not enjoying things they used to, and have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep (Nimh.Nih). There are more than one form of depression. In fact, depression is often accompanied by something else. One form of this is called bipolar depression but is better known as manic depression. This is only known as manic depression when you are switching moods. The episodes will have you switching between depression and manic episodes.
