Recently health has become a major factor in people’s lives due to the rise of the internet giving people better access to information on the foods they are eating. Many people are seeking health and lifestyle changes to live a happier, healthier life and due to unhealthy foods being such an abundant, easier and cheaper option to many families as opposed to healthy foods, a rise in obesity has happened.

I will want to make her feel very comfortable and relaxed so she can be more willing to open up, my main strategy will be the use of mirroring which will build a trust between us and in turn will allow my client to open up more to my questions. (5) With my client suffering from dyslexia as well we may have issues with communication, this could range from her having difficulties taking in information efficiently to issues with her conversational skills or even being functionally illiterate, this is something I will have to keep in mind and watch out for so that I can be sure to react to such situations effectively therefore allowing me and my client to have an undisrupted conversation (7) I will also have to consider the noise barriers to our communication when conducting our interview, it would be best for us to be in a private space where I can minimize noise to avoid interruptions and trouble hearing, my clients internal noise may also interfere with ways she is perceiving things I am saying, which I will try my best to counteract with uplifting speech and …show more content…
I will be sure to be attentive to my client’s needs, showing her that I am clearly focused on her needs by maintaining eye contact with her, smiling and nodding which act as reinforcers, which encourage the person talking and be used to make the client talk more. If I want the client to talk more, I can give a nod, or using a rapid succession of nods I can indicate my desire to talk (4). While working with my client I will also have an awareness to what their body language is telling me which will allow me to know how to communicate with them effectively. Also another equally effective tool of non-verbal communication is eye contact, it can give off the effect that the person is more trustworthy, honest, sincere and personable. As well as this I will have to consider what time of day I conduct the interview, morning would be an optimal time for us so that my client has fresh in her mind the information I have discussed with her and she may also be very eager to begin her lifestyle change. Giving her a whole day to do this is a great start, if done late in the day she may be fatigued by her studies and not retain as much information.
