From I Do to I Don’t: The Cause and Effects of a Failed Marriage
In 1950 Walt Disney released the classic film, Cinderella. This is a film that many young girls have fallen in love with, including myself. In this film Cinderella dreams of finding her prince charming and living happily ever after. Cinderella’s dream of finding her prince to marry and living happily ever after is a dream shared by many. On October 11, 2008 my dream was coming true. I had found my prince, the one I planned to spend the rest of my life with. We had our dream wedding with all of our family and friends in attendance. However, little did I know that dream would come crashing down right before my eyes in just one short year.
Marriage is the bond between two people who are in love and want to make their relationship permanent. The couple becomes one when they form this unity. To have a lasting marriage it takes work from both individuals. Marriage is supposed to be until death do us part according to the vows that the couple recites. However, there are many factors that cause a marriage to fail. These causes can include poor communication, loss of interest, and lack of intimacy and affection which leads to infidelity. The effects of a failed marriage can be detrimental to the individuals involved. The effects of divorce can lead to psychological effects and financial struggles. Divorce can also have many negative effects on the children who are involved.
