The script is made of compartments rather than having one event trigger another. A character may come into a scene or Cornell may move out of a scene and the scene completely changes. It is not always clear if the stage directions are to only be followed or if some are to be read.…

“A Christmas Story”, the play directed by Susan Ferley and performed at December 2nd, 2015, was a well-performed play in my opinion. The story is about a boy named Ralphie Parker wanting a BB gun: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and "this thing which tells time" for his Christmas present. In the story, he does all he can to receive that gun but their parents reject his wish because they thought it was too dangerous for him. The writer, Jean Shepherd, wrote about a very boring outline of the story but made the story humorous and exciting for the audience. The performances in the “A Christmas Story” was very well done by the actors.…

A Different Kind of Love Love is a topic that has been explored infinitely through music, film, literature, art, and more. It's a feeling and as a result of the way it's carried out, it's a way of life. Although isolated the texts and themes of Our Town and Blindness appear very distinct, the author's purpose behind specific scenes are very parallel in their subject and allow for the significance behind each to compliment the other. The three-act play Our Town written by playwright Thornton Wilder follows the lives of ordinary citizens in the small town of Grovers Corners, New Hampshire during the early twentieth century. The play is divided into three acts, each involving an aspect of every life: daily life, love and marriage, and death.…

There are many clichés about Japanese films that people associate with them, but the artistic yet effective messages and pictures throughout the film make it a must see for any movie lover. “In American popular culture, the loss of innocence is characterized as the loss of one’s virginity and the first exposure to alcohol and drugs” (Ojha, “What Causes the Loss of Innocence?”). In “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran and Benjamin Levin, the singer remembers his times back in his hometown. As he’s traveling back home, he recollects good memories from when he was younger, regardless of the inauspicious things he and his friends did. Comparably, Thomas Hoods’ “I Remember, I Remember” remembers what it was like to be a child. Throughout the poem, the writer recalls his times of innocence.…

Stories, plays and other pieces of writing are all different and unique in their own way. However, they all share one thing in common, which is to provide a message or lesson by the end of the work. The play Everyman was not only an enjoyable read because of its realistic plot, but because of its meaningful lesson as well. I chose this particular passage for several reasons, such as because it really speaks to me by encouraging me to think and reflect on the purpose of life, it gives me a better understanding of the characters and it allows me to picture a vivid image of how it might be performed. Everyman differs from past plays that I have watched and read mainly because it draws a closer connection to the audience.…
