He is most famous for his tales and poems of horror, mystery, and suspense. “The Cask of Amontillado” first published in the November issue of Godey’s Lady’s Book. “The Cask of Amontillado” is the story of a maddened narrator, Montresor who seeks revenge against a man named Fortunato who had insulted his family name. He meets Montresor at a carnival, lures him into the catacombs of his home, and buries him alive. Atmosphere plays a crucial role.
