Is revenge fair? Revenge can be used to get back at people because the person might want justice. Revenge is not always the right thing to do because it just lasts for a while until you realize that revenge is a destructive and violent response to being angry. It is a misguided way to change shame into pride. Sometimes revenge can lead to being taken advantage of by someone else or it can lead to regret. For example, in the short story “The Cask of Amontillado” by Poe revenge worked by preying weakness and revenge ended up leading to regret.
