According to the context depicted in the documentary “Their Bother’s Keepers”, the young sibling families that are orphaned by HIV/AIDS are left vulnerable at a young age. The documentary is shot in Chazanga compound in Lusaka Zambia and it shows the harsh realities of how Doris,Paul and their siblings, Benny and his siblings and Lizzie are victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The oldest siblings are left to take care of the younger siblings.These children are left vulnerable with no means of survival or access to the basic needs. These include the media, the community, the NGO’s (Care-International and SOS) and the government. Each of these actors are trying to address the vulnerability among the young people in Zambia. The media through the radio station gives advices the people to use contraceptives and stick to one partner as a way of reducing the spread of the virus. The community in form of Beatrice, Abraham, the priest and medical doctor try to engage themselves in the lives of the young people by offering counseling services to them and helping them make sound decisions. The government through the international advisor gives the overview of the situation of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Zambia. The NGO’s give a sense of hope and future to the orphaned children by providing them with food and the basic needs. That is a huge number considering that the country is still developing at a steady rate. The documentary depicted a case of just three sibling families who eventually had some hope after the Care International and SOS came in to help. What about the thousands of kids sleeping hungry with no one to take care of them? Who will be their ‘savior’? Much effort needs to be added to the pre-existing policies in order to cub this menace.
