Argumentative Essay On Erick Garner Life

Improved Essays
Erick Garner was a 43 year old black male. He was a family man, a grandfather of 3 kids and a father of 6 kids including a 3 month old baby. Mr. Garner was a hard working person, and a person that cared about his community. His friends described him as a hospitable and generous person. Mr. Garner was murdered in the streets of New York City on July 17, 2014 by a police officer from the New York City Police Department by the name of Daniel Pantaleo. The same police officer that was sworn to serve and protect the citizens of New York City. Officer Pantaleo and the New York City Police Department failed to serve and protect Mr. Garner, and instead of protecting him, officer Pantaleo murdered Mr. Garner by using a chokehold, a restraining method that is illegal to use for New York City police officers. …show more content…
Garner could of have been prevented. There was no logical answer to end Mr. Garner’s life. Officer Pantaleo took away Mr. Garner’s main birth right, which is the right to live. There is no amount of money that will bring Mr. Garner back to life, or any medical procedure that can revive him, nor can the damages caused to his family can be undone. Therefore, for these reasons I’m asking the jurors in this case to grant an award in the amount of 75 million dollars. The 75 million dollars should be split in half, 35 million dollars to Mr. Garner’s family and the other 35 million dollars should go for the creation of a nonprofit organization that its main focus would be to educate, provide training, locate jobs, legally represent minorities and disadvantaged individuals, help the youth to get school grants, and provide daycare for working parents or for those parents that attend

Erick Garner, mush like Jyoti Singh, represented a symbol of injustice and hope for the society in which he was recognized because he too was assaulted by people of higher power. He too faced discrimination by his justice system through the act of victim blaming. However, his incident took place in America, a first world country that was very open about its racial acceptance and its strong justice system. Also unlike Jyoti Singh, Garners injustice was a result of a product of events leading up to the day of his death as well as police brutality. Eric Garner was a forty-three-year-old black man who lived with his wife and six children in Staten Island, New York.…

course, I am disgusted by the stories that dominate the election campaign. I am disgusted as a law professor, an attorney, a father of daughters, and as a rabbi. Women making accusations that they have been sexually abused — Paula Corbin Jones who received an $850,000 settlement from Bill Clinton; Kathleen Willey who went to Bill Clinton in the White House, desperate for a job after her husband killed himself; Juanita Broaddrick, a Clinton volunteer who insists he raped her; the new list of women whose names I am only now learning who say that Donald Trump groped or kissed them against their will. The abused women whose reputations and lives were destroyed by Hillary Clinton, as she defended her husband’s public profile after each “bimbo eruption.”…
