Paula Hoskins Argumentative Essay

Paula Hoskins is a dependency case manager for Childnet an organization that is under the umbrella of the Department of Children and Families, whom my family and I have known for a few years now through mutual friendships. Being a dependency case manager is certainly not an easy task, especially when you are actually good at your job because they like to load the most cases on their best workers such as Ms. Hoskins who juggles well over 40 cases a week whereas most juggle about 20-30. Some of the tasks she completes include keeping in contact with parents and children to make sure they are present at their next hearing or trial, keep in contact with providers such as therapists, doctors, dentists, etc to make sure the child is attending all necessary appointments and to get an update on their progress, keep in contact with the child’s school to make sure they are in attendance and make sure they are getting the help they need; and implement services that may be of great assistance to the child and parents who desire reconciliation. It is nice to see that after completing all of the necessary steps and services a family can be reunited once again. Some of the challenges Ms. Hoskins claims to face is that more often than not the dependency case manager and the attorney of the Department of Child and Families do not see eye to eye. This is why having a Guardian at Litem to be sort of the middle man is so important. Someone needs to be looking for the best interest of the children and sadly many times the Department of Children and Families fails in that
