The murder of JonBenet Ramsey is a famous unsolved homicide where the evidence leads nowhere, the suspects are her own parents or a mystery intruder, and the crime scene is tampered with in every aspect. Six year old JonBenet Ramsey was a beauty pageant queen murdered in cold blood by a murder who was only in it for the money. This case ultimately stands as one of the most important since it was one of the most tampered with.

The first few problems stemmed from one very important one - the police were inexperienced when it came to kidnappings and homicides. This caused many things to happen such as crime scene contamination, tampering of evidence, and refusal of outside help. Within the first 24 hours of the crime happening, the police did not question the key witnesses or neighbors which caused a major problem when it comes to who may have seen something important. The pathologist also showed up 18 hours after the crime was committed which can cause a conflict in finding evidence, and providing a valid cause of death of the victim. The fact that the police also did not close off the entire house to investigate, just portions, could have caused a lot of evidence to be lost. It did cause others to come in such as the Ramsey’s friends and family, which led to tampering of potential evidence in the house when they were cleaning it. The biggest problem in the end of this case was the fact that the investigation became split between three groups which refused to cooperate with one another. If they would have put their differences aside and focused on catching JonBenet’s killer, they may have been successful instead of just arguing against one another. The overall lesson in this case would be to use proper crime scene investigation procedures, especially when it comes to kidnappings and murders, because without these securities, it can send an innocent person to jail and cause the guilty to go
