We have a lot of themes in the play like Isolation, lack of communication and Absurdity of life. First Theme of Isolation, the characters in the play are isolated everyone in his own world. They forgot about what is communication means. A strong symbol of a shelter to everyone is the room. They feel safe inside it no one can hurt them. And also Davies attitude show it all that he is afraid of losing a place to stay. Second theme is Lack of communication that isn’t easily for the three of them Aston, Mike and Davies. They don’t listen to each other. This due to their social class and the way they live in the society. Davies always has a loud voice to cover up his stay as there home Mike and Aston. Mike always has a Manipulating Language towards Davies to get rid of him. Third theme is Absurdity of life, life with no meaning. They can’t find value or meaning for there life it’s empty. The decisions they make is not connected with the outside they are different. Mike and Aston want only things to keep as it is or less it doesn’t matter and for Davies something new happens to fulfill the empty space in his life. Fourth theme is theme of lies. The caretaker is tragic comedy. Tragic comedy literary device that is used in fictional work it consists of tragedy and comedy .The caretaker consist of both, the conversation between mike and Davies is always repeating the words that make it funny for us. And for Davies was running in the room by not wearing his trousers on in Act II. Davies way of speaking is so comic. And how the ending of the play become so strange and Aston is on mike side to let Davies out of the house because of his attitude that is not changing this is being unsociable with one another.
