The career of pharmacy has interested me ever since I was a little girl and this has been one of my passions ever since. Some of the different pharmacy careers that really stood out and interested me are community pharmacy, pharmacy opportunities in rural communities, ambulatory care clinics, and medication therapy management programs. A community pharmacy is a healthcare facility that focuses on providing services to a single specific community within an area. A community pharmacist is usually responsible for dispensing and distributing medicine to their patients. They work to ensure that different treatments are compatible for the patients’ condition by checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled.1 …show more content…
In collaborative community pharmacy, you have a better opportunity to build patient relationships and that’s something I really want when working in this career field. Also, pharmacists are now allowed to do more and more in their field as time passes, such as vaccinating all ages and vaccinating for many different diseases. Finally, this type of pharmacy really interests me because I get to help others by giving them advice on their medications and helps them get the most benefits from taking their medications. I can relate to most of the things from a rural area because I have experienced it in many local pharmacies and hospitals. I was attracted to the community pharmacy aspect because community pharmacy is one of my top career pathways I would like to pursue. Also, I feel like I would like working in a community pharmacy in a rural community because everyone in the town knows you and you can build that strong connection with your patients. Also, they are more likely to listen to you when they know you personally by name and when you can earn their trust. I find great pleasure in informing others about the career best to my knowledge and opening up their eyes and minds to the career. Finally, I would love to have some direct patient care with managing a

I am a registered pharmacy technician and have practised in community pharmacy for almost 6 years in the UK. The services that the pharmacy was providing were like where I had previously worked and all the standard operating procedures were similar. However, during the placement, I could see the pharmacist’s point of view rather than a technician and how the role of the pharmacist is different from that of a pharmacy technician. The pharmacist’s role was more focused on the clinical aspect, rather than just dispensing and ordering medication. I learnt how to recruit patients who are eligible for Medicines Use Review (MUR) and New Medicines Service (NMS).…

The occupation that I decided to use for the Domestic Associates Project is a Pharmacist. I chose this career option because I think it would be a good fit for me. The general task of a Pharmacist includes analyzing and assessing a patient's condition to choose the best prescription and treatment options for a patient. I think I would like this job because it requires close personal care for a patient, in depth logical thinking, and an understanding of the how chemicals react with each other and the human body. Fortunately all of these tasks fit what I am looking for in an occupation or are something I think I could do well.…

The world in consisted of many communities. It ranges from small book clubs to the medical team at a public hospital. These communities are called discourse communities and they consist of professionals who share a common goal for the public, have specific ways of communicating, “provide information and feedback” to each other, use different ways to expand their goals, possess their own jargon, and is consistently growing by mixing new with the experienced members (Swales 471-3). Then at night, I will be able go home and help my family. Today, pharmacists also have the opportunity to work only weekend shifts; therefore, I could accomplish my dream profession while being able to include more family time. This part of the profession really stood out to me because it will allow me, a female and hopefully one day a mother, to have not only a professional life but a personal life as…

I’m still steering towards the research and work at the industry level. The work at the community pharmacy seemed very monotonous and didn 't have much variation. I did like the patient interaction. I recognize the importance and role that the community pharmacy plays because the pharmacist is the last step in the patients’ health care. They are the last medical professional that the patient can talk too about their treatment, concerns and symptoms.…

IPPE 1 Reflection My IPPE 1 experience went relatively well. Already having worked in a community pharmacy setting, I knew what to expect and felt that there really was little to gain. Going into the rotation, I was somewhat bitter that I would be losing 3 weeks of my time to work in a setting I already have been working in. By the end of the rotation however, I did end up gaining at least some valuable experience and insight that I did not receive in my previous work experience.…
