Why I Want To Be A Social Worker Essay

I have decided that I want to continue on my education in the social work field. I want to pursue this career, because it is exciting to know that I will be able to help a lot of people. I will be there resource person when it comes to helping them with their goals at bettering themselves, and their situation. It is also exciting to meet new people, and being there for them as they make their transitions in their lives. I will get to meet them during their worse and hoping to bring out their best times! I am ready to begin my journey at working towards a bachelor’s degree. I am currently working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home here in Vincennes. During my two years working here, I have learned that I have a passion for helping elderly. I want to work with gerontology, or work in the medical field as a social worker. I know that I would not be able to help them like they need it. If I had to meet some of their parents, I know I would say some things that I should not say as a social worker. I know that the best interest is for that child, and it is always the goal to reunify them with their parents. I would not be able to help a child, if I strongly believe that the parent should not get their kid back. Also, it is a lot of work in this field, and a lot of emotions would show from me. I would not be able to leave work at home, and I know I would not be generally happy working in this area of employment. My educational goal is to continue on my education towards my bachelor’s degree. As I complete this goal, I want to start working as a social worker. During my career, I plan to complete my master’s in social work. I want to obtain my master’s therefore I can work with the Veteran’s Association at some point in my career. I believe that I have tons of personal strengths that I can bring to the social work
