As part of my Co-curriculars, I chose for my Place GoBe to go to the Career Center located on West Campus in the SSB building. It was my first time going there, and I realized afterwards how useful this resource could be for students. With two of my classmates, we got the chance to talk with Christine Moran. After sharing to us the different resources the Career Center was providing, she gave us advice on how to be successful as a student. She first insists on the fact that it was important to choose the right path. Christine mentioned to us the possibility to take a test online available at the Career Center that could help us getting a better idea of the different career options we have according to the results we got, and on how to decide on a major related to the career choice. She also pointed out that we should take into consideration our strengths in our decision, because sometimes we may want to go towards a specific path, yet it does not mean that we will be successful. Another advice she gave us is to be strategic in planning our education. Not only it will save us time, but it will also …show more content…
One thing I have learnt in the past is that you should better come to a meeting well prepared. Not only it helps you taking the most of it by collecting information you may have questions about, but it also helps you to keep more focused on the conversation, which is something positive for the resource person you are interacting with. Being positive and interested are other important skills I have used during the meeting. In fact, people are more willing to talk to you and answer your questions, as well as willing to build a relationship with you, if they feel you actually care about what they are telling you. When asking pertinent questions or comments, the person you have a conversation with is likely to come back for more. Smiling and showing enthusiasm also helps building networking, as it builds

Fieldwork 1B: Observation For this second fieldwork assignment I am required to observe the residents in the common area of Spring Meadows of Lansdale. Within the city of Corpus Christi, there is evidence of economic disparity. I discovered this through my experience with the Junior Achievement (JA) program, and through data collected and observations made on my assigned school and its neighborhood, and of other JA schools in the city of Corpus Christi. All data and observations were collected to show comparisons between each JA school. The information found is valuable because it is important to know about both the physical side of a community and the economic side of a community, and how they compare to each other, as well as how they compare to other communities within a city. Junior Achievement is an organization dedicated to educating young children about branches that deal with economics,…

Field Experience Working as a Para educator in the Mt. Pleasant School District had opened my understanding about how important it is the job of a teacher. As I observed Mrs. Ensminger performed her duties, it has confirmed my conviction that a teacher is a teacher because they do not see their duties as a job it is a calling. Mrs. Ensminger, a level 1 special education teacher, is already at school no later than 7:15 am. Before school even starts she is already coordinated with core class teachers what she need to work on every individual student under her care. First period in her class is Science.…

Two-way communication is evident in this organization, and thus should be in all organizations for success to be accomplished.…

Advice Dated as College Itself Let’s retire the exhausted mantra, “You need to go to college to be successful.” For many incoming freshman, four years of meticulous studying in high school have fallen short in helping to pick a major. While the world opens its arms to hard working high school graduates, many students have given little thought to a career path, while some are simply burnt out by school. Liz Freedman is the author of “The Developmental Disconnect in Choosing a Major”, an online article published on Penn State’s academic advisory journal “The Mentor.” In her article, Freedman cites a number of statistics such as the 20%-50% of students entering college as “undecided”, and the 75% of students who change their major at least once.…

This year the sixth grade students boarded the plane to Middle School. For the first time, the sixth grade students had to be able to do many things that they were not used to doing in fifth grade back in Elementary School. Some of those things include being able to open a combination lock, being able to get to classes on time with a four minute passing period, and they had to manage nine different classes throughout the entire school day. Also, the sixth graders did some really exciting things this year such as mummifying a chicken in Social Studies. Throughout the school year the school held a couple pf parties for just the sixth grade students to enjoy.…
